Although I'm done with holiday gift knitting, I still have been pushing myself to finish my current projects on the needles. *knocks on wood* I might actually finish them in time to be holiday gifts! Of course, now that I've said that, the universe will mess with me, oh well. First up with Miss 4… Continue reading 10 days left

Cold weather means more wool
Friday night we had a slight dusting of snow. Enough that it covered the ground, more than a dusting but less than half an inch. Our youngest kiddos were so excited to go out and play yesterday morning. As soon as miss 4 year old came back in she said she'd never go play in… Continue reading Cold weather means more wool
Dad’s Christmas hat
I finished knitting my dad's hat with my handspun. This yarn is an Aran weight spun from Gotland lamb roving. There was quite a bit of vegetable matter in the fiber still and I got most of it out while spinning but found some while knitting. I spun this on my Spin-E-Kube espinner. I have… Continue reading Dad’s Christmas hat
Spinning clouds
My youngest always says I'm spinning white fluffy clouds when I spin this Targhee Debouillet cross. And I definitely feel that way when I'm spinning. I tried to leave a little lanolin in the wool when I scoured to keep it soft and smooth. I plan to use this as warp on a weaving project.… Continue reading Spinning clouds
Wool and woes
I had full plans to blog this weekend. Knitting plans and spinning and that all went down the drain. Little Miss 4 year old got sick with middle sister's cold on Wednesday last week, then by Friday she was miserable. On Saturday she added a fever and tummy troubles to the mix. Once she started… Continue reading Wool and woes
Blending and combing
I started blending the multiple shades of grey in my Cormo fleece so I have a more even shade. Most of the locks are a medium grey but some are very light. There will still be some differences between the bundles but I think it will blend better than if I didn't do this step.… Continue reading Blending and combing
Spinning Saturday
After my middle had bowling practice, I spun a bit on Saturday. This was more of a fun, no cares type of spinning project. The fiber is a White Targhee / Debouillet cross I bought from the Woolery. I bought 4 pounds of it thankfully as I am completely in love with this fiber. I'm… Continue reading Spinning Saturday
Garden experiments
Three young cotton plants in a raised garden bed Earlier this year I decided to grow cotton in our home garden, at the time I had no idea what I'd do with the harvest. My skills in the garden are probably that of a novice so maybe I wouldn't get more than a small handful… Continue reading Garden experiments
