I finished knitting my dad’s hat with my handspun. This yarn is an Aran weight spun from Gotland lamb roving. There was quite a bit of vegetable matter in the fiber still and I got most of it out while spinning but found some while knitting. I spun this on my Spin-E-Kube espinner. I have another pound of roving in a lighter grey to spin still.
I used the Musselburgh hat pattern since I wasn’t sure the gauge needed for this yarn. I ended up using a US 8 needle which seemed to give me a nice fabric without being too loose or tight. I knit the ribbing on a US 6, and extra long to let my dad fold it up over his ears on super cold days.
