Park knitting

I’ve always loved freaking out the muggles by knitting in public. I’ve even combed and carded wool at the park while the girls played. Today is no different, I’m knitting on a new project – a hat for my dad for Christmas. I’m using my handspun that came out to an Aran/light bulky weight and US 8 needles. I’m getting 5 stitches to the inch. I’m doing a modified Musselburgh hat. I like the ability to start at the crown and adjust for my gauge. I’ll finish this like a standard beanie with ribbing. But I’ll definitely need to make a traditional Musselburgh soon too.

It’s unseasonably warm here in Nebraska, like many parts of the country I assume. Today it’s a breezy 56 degrees, on December 3rd. And while I’m not complaining, I’d rather have this over that nasty white stuff, my body is reacting to the weather like it’s 20-30 degrees colder. I think once I finish everyone’s gifts/wants I will be starting a pair of fingerless mitts for myself.
